「病気のために～できない」→「病気が～するのを妨げた」

= Illness (prevented) me (from) attending the party.
「私は病気のためにパーティーに出席できなかった」

抽象名詞を主語にして節を句に変形できる。
無生物を主語にして、人を目的語にすればよい。
この手の変形パターンに用いられる動詞を覚える。
remind ～ of …
prevent ～ from …
enable ～ to …
lead ～ to …
など
